As investigative journalist Amy Fine Collins notes, “It’s become more lucrative and much safer
to sell malleable teens than drugs or guns. A pound of heroin or an
AK-47 can be retailed once, but a young girl can be sold 10 to 15 times a
day — and a ‘righteous’ pimp confiscates 100 percent of her earnings.”
Consider this: every two minutes, a child is exploited in the sex industry.
According to USA Today, adults purchase children for sex at least 2.5 million times a year in the United States.
While some young people, like those who are homeless or transgender, are especially vulnerable, the truth is that victims do traverse across every type of neighborhood. They could be top of the class, the girl who lives across the street from you, or the head of the cheer-leading squad.

At least four men raped a 15-year-old runaway and kept her at a West Side apartment complex by keeping her high on drugs, according to court records.
One of the suspects, 28-year-old Ray Hernandez Jr., was arrested Thursday on a charge of continuous trafficking of persons. A second suspect, 25-year-old Alfredo Herrera, was arrested later that day on a charge of sexual assault of a child. Both remain in the Bexar County Jail and further arrests are expected.
Lawyers in Pennsylvania say their client was sexually exploited at a motel for years, alleging the teen girl was a victim of human trafficking who was forced to have sex with more than 1,000 men. “This child was forced into sex slavery, paid to do things with men double, triple, quadruple her age,” attorney Nadeem Bezar told reporters.

As Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, a national leader on human trafficking issues, told the media, “It just opens up the door for traffickers to use these kids to commit crimes and exploit them even worse.” Another prosecutor insightfully observed that if traffickers wrote legislation to protect themselves, it would read like SB 1322. FACT: Under this misguided law, pimping and pandering will still be against the law whether it involves running adult women or young girls. But, according the Washington Times’ Travis Allen: “Legalizing child prostitution will only incentivize the increased exploitation of underage girls. Immunity from arrest means law enforcement can’t interfere with minors engaging in prostitution — which translates into bigger and better cash flow for the pimps. Simply put, more time on the street and less time in jail means more money for pimps, and more victims for them to exploit.

This is not the first time that Mexican authorities have caught smugglers using Uber, as earlier this year seven other vehicles hauling migrants were detected in the area of San Luis Potosi.
Editor’s note: JFY is not saying this is Uber’s fault, just making people aware of what is going on…traffickers will use any and all means necessary to do their dirty work!
